For your own health, you think more and more about how your food is produced and from where it is sourced. And you now must be aware of a whole host of food allergies and intolerances, unknown to previous generations.
Similarly, when it comes to the health and well-being of your animal companions, you want zero exceptions and zero compromises. You demand the same level of quality and transparency for your pets that you’ve come to expect for your own diet. And, you don’t want to sift through long ingredient lists to understand what is in their food and whether it’s truly good for them.
Identity has designed a range of high-protein dog food and cat food that you and your pet can count on. We use limited ingredient recipes and source our fresh, never frozen meat, poultry, and fish as locally as possible. Crafted thoughtfully and in small batches, you can literally smell the difference. This is fresh food that smells clean and looks filling, like something you would want on your own supper plate.
How Much Protein Does Your Pet Need?
High Protein = Healthy Diet
A good amount of protein is essential to your pet’s diet. High-protein dog food and cat food promotes muscle development, improves the health of their skin and fur, and can help boost their immune system. Ensuring a protein-rich diet is central to our pet food identity.
Knowing and meeting your pet’s daily protein needs will benefit their health and happiness. Cats are strict carnivores and need their protein. Dogs, like you, are omnivores and require a healthy amount of protein everyday too. If your dog or cat’s protein needs are not met, they may have difficulty maintaining lean muscle, and over time will become overweight.
Experts suggest that dogs should eat about 1 gram of protein for every pound of their ideal body weight, every day. For example, a dog with a 25 lb. ideal weight should eat about 25 grams of protein each day.
Cats need twice this amount: 2 grams of protein per pound of ideal body weight, per day. That would equal 16 grams of protein per day for a cat with an ideal body weight of 8 lbs.
All of the products in our innovative canned food line feature exceptional quality, healthy proteins, perfect for your pet’s diet. Identity’s range of high protein cat food and dog food also gives you the flexibility to adjust your pet’s diet. Some pets may develop food sensitivities or stomach issues from consuming the same foods, with the same protein sources, day in and day out. The variety of proteins we make available in our foods includes several novel ones (i.e. new proteins that your pet hasn’t yet eaten) such as Duck, Quail, Salmon, and Herring.
Massively Enjoyable, Not Massively Produced.
Meeting your pet companion’s protein needs is one part of a healthy diet. Avoiding potentially troubling additives and fillers, common in many canned dog foods, is another. Our small-batch, high-protein foods cut no corners. They are 100% gluten-free, grain-free, potato-free, and legume-free – perfect for sensitive stomachs and careful eaters.
We are one of the few pet food makers to prioritize a meat-first, grain-free, potato-free, and legume-free diet for your pets. In formulating our recipes, we foresaw the issues for pets with digesting peas, lentils, other legumes, or potatoes that was recently reported by the FDA. (reference)
